Ghanaian ordinary passport holders now have visa‑free access to at least 41 countries, spanning Africa, the Caribbean and other regions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The arrangement allows citizens to enter the listed countries without pre‑obtained visas, though stay limits vary. Most destinations permit up to 90 days, while Grenada, Maldives and Zambia restrict visits to 30 days.
Non‑ECOWAS entries include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, Dominica, Eswatini, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Morocco, Maldives, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Singapore, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the United Arab Emirates. For Morocco, travelers must secure a free Electronic Travel Authorisation online before departure. The UAE, meanwhile, requires a visa obtained from the embassy in Accra after fee payment.
Within ECOWAS, Ghanaian passport holders can visit Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea‑Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo without visas, generally for up to 90 days.
Travelers are urged to verify entry requirements with the relevant embassy or immigration authority before departure, as visa‑waiver terms may change or carry additional conditions.
