Alhassan Abdul Fataw Jofa, the Member of Parliament for Yendi, presented 1,500 mono desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Tuesday, a move designed to tackle the chronic furniture shortage that has left many pupils sharing desks or sitting on the floor during lessons.
The donation, received by the Yendi Municipal Education Directorate, is expected to lift learning environments in schools where inadequate furniture has raised concerns about effective teaching and learning.
Mr Jofa said the gesture reflected his commitment to supporting education and improving learning outcomes in the municipality, and pledged to continue backing initiatives that address challenges confronting schools.
Deputy Director of Education in charge of Human Resource at the Yendi Municipal Education Directorate, Akolgo, thanked the MP for the intervention, noting that the desks would help improve classroom conditions and that measures would be taken to ensure proper maintenance.
The new furniture will be distributed to schools across the municipality, with the aim of creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
