Telecel Ghana’s External Affairs Director, Komla Buami, took the stage at the 10th anniversary of the Executive Women’s Network (EWN) to reaffirm the company’s commitment to advancing women in leadership. The EWN, a Ghanaian NGO that mentors and supports women in senior management, celebrated a decade of change with the EWN@10 Conference & Expo under the theme “A Decade of Leadership, A Future Toward Holistic Impact.”

Buami highlighted that sustainable progress for women requires organisations to move beyond one‑off initiatives and embed gender inclusion into core business priorities. He cited Telecel’s own programmes – female representation targets, the Female Engineering Student Scholarship Programme (FESSP) and the Telecel Reconnect Programme – as examples of structured pathways that help women grow and re‑enter the workforce after career breaks.

The panel discussion, moderated by broadcaster Bernard Avle and featuring Sheila Minka‑Premo and Mavis Owusu‑Gyamfi, explored practical strategies for accelerating gender equity. Buami stressed that women’s advancement should be part of organisational systems, not just the work of individual champions.

Telecel’s participation in the event reflects its broader goal of creating an inclusive workplace where talent can flourish irrespective of gender. By investing in career development, succession planning and workforce re‑entry, the company aims to build a leadership landscape that is diverse and sustainable.

As the Executive Women’s Network marks a decade of championing women’s leadership, conversations such as these reinforce the importance of moving beyond good intentions to implement lasting measures that enable more women to lead, succeed and inspire future generations.
