Military personnel are now demolishing structures along the Abrepo Junction–Suame Roundabout corridor in the Ashanti Region, a move ordered by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to prepare for the first phase of the Suame Roundabout Interchange.
The directive, issued earlier this week, requires all occupants in the affected area to leave by 4 October 2026. The clearance work is part of a broader effort to transform the busy Kumasi thoroughfare into a multi‑tier interchange that will include an overpass linking the Suame Roundabout to Abrepo Junction and a widening of the road along the Western Bypass.

In addition to the main interchange, the project will feature overpasses and a grade‑separated underpass at Abrepo Junction, offering alternative routes for motorists and easing congestion on the Suame–Afrancho stretch.

Officials say the new infrastructure will improve vehicular movement across Kumasi and reduce traffic bottlenecks that have plagued the area for years. The first phase is expected to bring immediate relief to commuters and set the stage for further expansions in the future.
As demolition progresses, residents and businesses along the corridor are urged to comply with the evacuation order and cooperate with the military crews to ensure a smooth transition to the construction phase.
