SLTF to Advance Fees for First‑Year Students Facing Admission Deadlines

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced a bridge‑financing scheme for first‑year students of public universities and public technical universities who need immediate cash to meet institutional fee‑payment deadlines under the Government’s No Academic Fees Policy.

Under the policy, students are entitled to fee waivers once the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the institutions have validated admission data. That process, however, can take time, leaving some students unable to pay the upfront deposit required by their universities.

To prevent eligible students from losing their admission, SLTF will, on application, advance the required fee deposit directly to the relevant tertiary institution. The amount will later be reconciled against the student’s entitlement under the No Academic Fees Policy.

The initiative is part of the Government’s broader No‑Fees‑Stress agenda, which aims to remove financial barriers to tertiary education. SLTF thanked GTEC, the vice‑chancellors of Ghana’s public universities and technical universities, and the leadership of public tertiary institutions for their cooperation.

Students who need immediate assistance are urged to apply through the No‑Fees‑Stress Portal as soon as possible to secure their admission and begin the academic year without the burden of immediate fee‑payment challenges.

For more information, students may contact Esenam Akosua Dzansi, APR, Head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs at SLTF, at +233 24 383 7583 or erdzansi@sltf.gov.gh.
