On Friday, October 9, alumni of Peki Secondary School in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region broke ground for a new, ultra‑modern entrance and a surrounding fence wall. The ceremony was led by Mr. David Aziago, a 2003 graduate and CEO of Davida Roofing, who also serves as National President of the Old Students Association of the school.

Mr. Aziago said the new entrance would be the first phase of a larger project aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure. He announced a personal donation of building materials to kick‑start the work and urged other former students to contribute. The project will also include a fence to secure the campus and protect students from the local community’s use of the school grounds as a shortcut.

The Paramount Chief of Peki Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty Deiga Kwadzo Dei XII—who is also an alumnus—opened the ceremony and called on parents and guardians to support their children’s education rather than rely solely on the government’s Free Senior High School initiative. He also announced that a private plot of land near the school would be secured to prevent private activities that could disrupt learning.

Madam Peace Goka, the headmistress, welcomed the initiative and highlighted the importance of a welcoming entrance. She also stressed the need for fencing to stop residents from using the campus as a route to their homes, which interferes with academic hours. Ms. Goka appealed to authorities to expedite existing GETFund projects and complete the girls’ dormitory, noting the growing number of female students.

The school currently employs over 100 staff and serves more than 3,000 students. The alumni‑led project is expected to enhance safety, attract visitors, and provide a modern learning environment for future generations.
