Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned the sitting of the Ghanaian Parliament until further notice after declaring a minority motion inadmissible. The motion, presented by a Leader of the House, sought to establish an ad‑hoc committee to investigate major narcotics consignments linked to Ghana.
Bagbin explained that the proposed inquiry would substantially overlap with existing criminal proceedings and could prejudice the interests of parties before the courts. "Accordingly, I am of the considered opinion that permitting the motion to proceed in its present form as presented by a Leader of the House at this particular time may prejudice the interests of parties to pending judicial proceedings," he said.
Pursuant to the Standing Orders, the Speaker ruled the private member’s motion inadmissible and adjourned the House until further notice.
