Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, has been elected the new Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), defeating his main rival, Alfred Boye, in elections held on Saturday, August 15, at the WAEC Hall in Tema.
Okoe Boye polled 488 votes against Boye's 173. He takes over from outgoing Regional Chairman Divine Otoo Agorhom, who had earlier announced he would not seek another term.
The election brought together delegates from across the Greater Accra Region to elect new executives who will lead the party's regional affairs as it reorganizes its structures ahead of the 2028 general election. Okoe Boye, a former Minister of Health, said his administration would focus on service, unity and grassroots mobilization as the party works to rebuild its support base in the region.
Elsewhere on the ballot, Joana Frances Adda was elected First Vice Chairman with 405 votes, defeating Racheal Tutu, who polled 243, and Emmanuel King Affotey, who got 12. Prince Obeng won Second Vice Chairman with 453 votes, ahead of Kofi Ofori on 155 and Peter Henry Vanderpuije on 51.
Daniel Parker Odarlai France emerged Secretary with 347 votes, narrowly beating Emmanuel K. Clottey's 314. Gideon Nii Ampim Sackey won Deputy Secretary with 209 votes, ahead of Baba Seidu Issaka on 207 and Charles Oteng on 173, with Albert Estaraus Nii Kraku and Shaibu Abdullai Ananafo Kabore polling 35 and 33 respectively.
Michael Danquah won Treasurer with 256 votes against Francisca Anyorkor Boateng Amponsem's 222, with Kofi Twum Boafo on 155 and David Laryea on 17. Moses Abor secured 464 votes to become Regional Organiser, well ahead of Emmanuel Anim Austin's 153 and Collins Kofi Asante's 34.
Solomon Asante was elected Communication Officer with 265 votes, ahead of Abdul-Rahaman Sabo Adam on 239, with Isaac Oheneba Danso Junior and George Asafo-Adjei polling 88 and 68. Edward Benjamin Nargeh won Youth Organiser with 296 votes, followed by Mandela Wiafe on 259 and Kwame Bekoe on 102.
Naomi Akosua Owusu narrowly won Women's Organiser with 227 votes against Sarah Dugbakie Pobee's 226, with Marie Timitey on 101, Perpetual Asante on 92 and Naana Eyeson on 15. Jeff Kassim Abdallah was elected Nasara Coordinator unopposed.
Okoe Boye said the decisive support from delegates showed their desire for renewed energy, unity and a determined push to reclaim political power, and described his approach as one of service rather than authority. "In the 21st century, it is not lordship leadership; it is servant leadership. That is what I am going to do for you," he said.
He acknowledged that rebuilding the NPP's electoral fortunes in Greater Accra would be difficult but achievable through unity and sustained grassroots work. "I am not afraid of hard work. I admit that it is a very heavy task, but I also know it can be done," he said, pledging to work closely with constituency executives in what he called a "24-hour campaign."
He said the NPP is targeting 21 parliamentary seats in Greater Accra, the number it won in 2016, and pointed to former President John Mahama's political comeback as proof that electoral fortunes can change. "Anything can happen. The only thing is a lot of hard work and belief. I have the belief; what is left is the hard work," he said, urging party members to stay united, disciplined and focused on grassroots mobilization as the NPP seeks to reclaim lost seats.
