NPP Holds Off on Kennedy Agyapong Decision Until Committee Report

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Chairperson Nana Akomea confirmed on Monday that the party’s disciplinary committee has not yet delivered its report on former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong. The committee was originally given a two‑week window to complete its work but was granted an extension, Akomea said.

Akomea, who was present at the National Council meeting, added that the committee’s status remains unclear and that the National Council has entrusted the matter to the disciplinary body. He declined to speculate on the committee’s findings, noting that council members must await the report before voicing individual positions.

Despite the pending report, Akomea stressed that the NPP is ready to reconcile with former members who wish to re‑join the party, provided they demonstrate a genuine willingness to engage and work with the organisation. He highlighted the party’s intention to broaden its support base ahead of future elections, even courting floating voters and members of the opposition.

Akomea warned that without a clear willingness to engage, reconciliation would be difficult, as no single politician is indispensable. The party will wait for the disciplinary committee’s recommendations before deciding Agyapong’s future relationship with the NPP.
