On Friday, September 11, 2026, Sam Pyne, the New Patriotic Party’s First Vice Chairman aspirant, accused the National Democratic Congress of not delivering on its 24‑hour economy pledge. The policy, launched during the 2024 election campaign, was billed as a way to keep economic activity running around the clock and to create jobs.
Pyne questioned how many people have been employed through the scheme and challenged the government to provide concrete evidence of its impact. “Let them give us the number of people who have been employed, not political appointees. Not political appointees. Let them come and tell us on the Agenda 1-3-3,” he said on Eyewitness News.
He noted that the promise was a major factor that attracted young Ghanaians to the NDC, and asked whether businesses and workers are truly operating in shifts to generate additional employment. “The 24‑hour economy, yeah. Where, how many people are working because of that? And these are issues that the young guys bought into,” Pyne added.
Pyne urged the government to demonstrate tangible results rather than rely on political messaging. “Is it functioning? Where’s that promise?” he asked. He warned that voters are closely monitoring the government’s performance and will ultimately judge it on whether its promises translate into real improvements in their lives.
