MTN Ghana has launched a new campaign to move customers from simple mobile money transactions to a fuller range of financial services available on its MoMo App. The company said the push is part of a wider effort to deepen digital financial inclusion, encouraging users to save, invest, access credit and plan for the future using their phones.

During the company’s annual MomoFest, Isaac Agyenim Boateng, Manager for Brands and Communication at MTN Ghana, explained the shift. “For us as a business now, we are moving from wallet to financial well‑being,” he said, noting that the MoMo App offers savings, investment, loan and pension products beyond the 170# short code that many still use for basic transfers.

Over the past fortnight, MTN teams have been in the Volta Region, visiting homes and offices in Ho and surrounding communities to help people download the app and learn how to use its features. The campaign is not just about increasing downloads, Boateng said, but also about changing how people use digital finance to build greater stability.

Boateng urged users to stay alert to fraud, reminding them that the MoMo platform has robust security measures and that customers should never share their PINs or one‑time passwords. He highlighted MTN’s ongoing education efforts, including SMS alerts, social media campaigns, weekly fraud‑prevention tips and YouTube videos.

Vendors at MomoFest echoed the message, with Abandoned Grace Oma Mefut noting that digital payments lower the risk of carrying large amounts of cash. Millicent, known as MG of MG Scoreset, said cashless transactions have become essential to her online business, offering customers convenience and security.

MTN Ghana believes expanding digital financial services will make banking more accessible and help customers move from merely sending money to managing their financial lives digitally. The company plans to continue its outreach and education initiatives across the country.
