The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has opened an investigation into an alleged extortion incident involving a customs officer stationed at Accra International Airport (AIA). The inquiry follows a video that went viral on social media, in which TikToker Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty claimed that a customs officer demanded GH¢600 from her without issuing an official receipt.

In the clip, the TikToker questioned the circumstances of the payment and the conduct of the officer. The allegations attracted widespread attention online, prompting the GRA to issue a formal response and assure the public that the matter is under review.

In a circular, the GRA noted the video and the allegations it contained, stating that it has commenced an investigation and will update the public once findings are available. The authority did not disclose the identity of the customs officer involved or provide further details on the incident’s specifics.

The GRA reiterated its commitment to integrity, accountability and professionalism in its operations, emphasizing that it remains dedicated to upholding these standards among its officers.

As the investigation proceeds, observers will watch for any developments that may clarify the circumstances and determine whether disciplinary action is warranted.
