Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang unveiled a partnership with Huawei Technologies at the graduation ceremony for 80 students of the Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa (HACSA) Foundation’s Tech for Girls Programme in Accra. The event also celebrated the 10th Anniversary HACSA Sankofa Summit.
Opoku‑Agyemang said the initiative will equip young women with skills in emerging technologies to enhance employability. She added that the government has begun introducing digital skills training in basic schools and is taking the effort into higher education.
The partnership will see 3,000 girls trained in Artificial Intelligence under the Girls in ICT programme. The government is also partnering with tertiary institutions under the One Million Coders Programme, reserving 50,000 slots for Persons with Disabilities to create IT job opportunities.
HACSA founder Johanna Svanikier, former Ghanaian Ambassador to France, urged graduates to adapt and grow in the evolving technological world. Speaking on her behalf, OheneNana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Prempeh highlighted the need to invest in women, noting its broader economic impact.
