GoldBod Jewellery, together with B‑Light Jewellery, unveiled a new showroom on Friday, October 2, at the Takoradi Mall in the Western Region’s capital. The move is part of the company’s strategy to bring quality Ghana‑made gold jewellery closer to consumers while boosting value addition in the country’s gold industry.
Managing Director Gertrude Emefa Donkor said the outlet is more than a retail space; it is an avenue for economic empowerment and job creation for young people. “To many, this is just the opening of a showroom, but to us, this is not just the opening of another showroom. It is the creation of more jobs for our youth, value retention within our borders and economic empowerment,” she told the crowd.

Donkor highlighted GoldBod’s investment in modern machinery, infrastructure and staff training as part of a broader effort to transform Ghana’s jewellery production landscape. “We are taking steps to change the entire face of our production where we are investing in machinery, modern equipment, modern infrastructure, as well as training of our staff,” she added. The company is also building an ultramodern facility to increase production capacity, meet domestic demand and position Ghanaian jewellery for international markets.

The opening follows a call for corporate partnerships to make locally produced gold jewellery more accessible. Several corporate institutions have expressed interest in facilitating purchases for their staff. The new showroom will provide customers in Takoradi and surrounding communities with authentic, locally crafted gold pieces and a platform for Ghanaian craftsmanship to reach a wider market.
GoldBod’s initiative aligns with Ghana’s broader goal of deepening domestic value addition, moving beyond exporting raw gold and creating economic benefits through local manufacturing and retail.
