The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) fought a fire that engulfed a Zonda tipper truck on the Lower Volta Bridge in South Tongu Municipality, Volta Region, early Thursday night. The incident was reported at 12:39 am on October 8, when the Sogakope Fire Station received a distress call and dispatched a crew led by Sub‑Officer Bonni Nutifafa. Firefighters arrived at 12:43 am to find the vehicle, registration GN 9479‑20, ablaze. Foam was applied to contain the blaze and stop it from spreading. No casualties were recorded.

In a post on its Facebook page, the GNFS urged motorists to keep their vehicles well maintained, check for electrical faults and carry functional fire extinguishers. The service also reminded the public to report fire emergencies promptly to enable swift responses.
