Ebi Bright Alleges MP Charles Forson Assaulted Her Driver

In a session before Parliament’s Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive Ebi Bright accused Member of Parliament Charles Forson of refusing to collaborate on municipal development initiatives and of assaulting her driver.

Ms Bright said repeated attempts to engage Mr Forson on projects within the municipality had failed, leading to duplicate work and initiatives being carried out without coordination with the assembly.

She added that she had sought support from parliamentary leaders to break the impasse and establish communication with the MP, but the latest attempt to meet him at Parliament ended with her driver being physically assaulted after the MP could not be reached.

“The last of such attempt was met with physical assault on my driver because we tried to reach him at Parliament and we couldn’t reach him. I went to his residence which is just opposite my private office and we didn’t gain access to him. So I sent a package to his office to greet him and ask to see him but he assaulted my staff,” she said.

Ms Bright said the matter has now been brought to the attention of parliamentary leadership and she hopes the issues will be resolved to restore cooperation between the MP and the assembly.
