Danpong Healthcare Free Screening Draws Hundreds in Nungua

Hundreds of residents from Nungua and nearby areas turned up early at the Danpong Pharmacy in Kantamanto for this year’s free health screening, part of the company’s Danpong Cares corporate social responsibility programme.

The outreach, carried out with East Cantonment Pharmacy Limited and the Municipal Assembly, offered general medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria and hepatitis B testing, and a breast‑cancer screening that saw more than 74 women examined.

Medical support was on hand throughout the day: a doctor and a pharmacist provided counselling and guidance based on screening results, while 140 insecticide‑treated mosquito nets were distributed and 45 participants received free medication.

Medical Officer Dr Alexander Osei‑Bonsu said the event was encouraging, noting that residents were becoming more health‑conscious. He added that the company had expected between 180 and 200 beneficiaries and urged people to check their health regularly rather than wait until symptoms appear.

Danpong Healthcare’s PRO, Esther Mamle Tetteh, called the initiative an investment in the Nungua community and a thank‑you for the support the area has given the brand over the years. “Our brand story started in Nungua, so it is a privilege for us to invest back in the community behind our story,” she said.

Danpong Cares, the company’s community health programme, continues to provide free screening, education and other support to communities, schools and individuals across Ghana.
