The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) Embassy in Accra announced the launch of a new mobile application on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The app is aimed at the 380 million Africans living in the diaspora, offering a digital bridge to the continent’s news, culture and charitable initiatives.
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission for the DAF Embassy, said the platform would bring the continent directly to the palms of diasporans worldwide. “The diaspora is an integral pillar of Africa’s present and future,” Bennett told the launch event. “Through this mobile platform, we are bringing the continent directly to the palms of over 380 million brothers and sisters across the globe—fostering community, keeping them informed, and providing a direct link back home.”
The app is available on both the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS, and can also be accessed by scanning a QR code. It features a user‑friendly interface that lets users explore content with a single tap. A key highlight is the Sankofa Wall, which showcases DAF’s charitable activities and allows users to support them through an integrated donation process.
Kevin Williams, Director for DAF Youth Empowerment Training Center (DAFYETC) and Managing Director of Afriam, who helped develop the app, described it as “user‑friendly” and praised its streamlined donation feature, where users can scan a code or click a donate button, select an amount and enter credit card details.
The launch comes as the African Union recognises the diaspora as the continent’s sixth region, underscoring its importance to Africa’s socio‑economic growth, trade and cultural preservation. The DAF Embassy, the first and only diplomatic mission dedicated solely to the African diaspora, hopes the app will boost engagement between Ghana and its global community.
