Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), taking over from Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi.
COKA beat Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, a former Member of Parliament for Bantama and former Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, polling 658 votes against Kokofu's 269.
Reacting to his victory, COKA said, "By the grace of God, I am now the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP. I am deeply grateful to the delegates, supporters, and everyone who believed in me. The work begins now, together, let us unite, rebuild, and prepare the NPP for victory in 2028."
Delegates from 45 out of 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region took part in the voting, held at Jubilee Park in Kumasi. Delegates from the Adansi Asokwa and Afigya Sekyere East constituencies were excluded from the elections owing to unresolved issues within those constituencies.
