In a tour of ongoing projects, Banda District MP Ahmed Ibrahim announced plans to make the area the most attractive tourist spot in Ghana within five years. The district, already home to mountains, rivers, caves and the Hippo Sanctuary, is adding infrastructure to support visitors and boost the local economy.
“By the next five years, Banda will be the most attractive destination for tourists in Ghana,” Ibrahim said, citing the district’s proximity to Bui National Park, the Bui Hydro Dam and a floating solar project on the reservoir. He highlighted the 90‑percent‑complete AstroTurf facility and new tennis courts in Bui and Dorbor as part of a broader sports development strategy aimed at nurturing local talent and drawing sporting events.

Beyond sports, the MP announced an ultra‑modern social centre, a hotel, a computer centre for tech skills, and a health insurance office as key components of the district’s hospitality and social infrastructure. “When you come here on a visit, you will not be willing to go back,” he said, stressing the facilities are designed to host major programmes outside Ghana’s major urban centres.

District Chief Executive Peter Dongi led a government delegation, including Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa, to inspect the sites. Akwaboa praised the pace of work, noting that projects such as schools, teachers’ quarters, nurses’ quarters and police facilities were progressing thanks to secured funding before contractors began.
Ibrahim urged members of the Banda diaspora to return, experience the developments firsthand and support the district’s growth. The district’s vision is to become the most attractive destination in the West African sub‑region, according to the MP.
