Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been re-elected Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing a decisive victory at the party's regional elections held at Baakuniaba, near Sunyani.
Baffoe polled 201 votes to retain the chairmanship, beating his closest challenger, Joseph Mensah, who got 31 votes. Former Jaman South MP Yaw Afful polled 44 votes, while Afari Gyan and Kwabena Oppong failed to secure a single vote.
In the other contests, Kate Amponsah Agyare was elected First Vice Chairperson with 252 votes against Peter Boampong Asomah's 29. Kwaku Antwi Agyei won Second Vice Chairperson with 123 votes, beating Issa Issaka, who polled 89, and Kwadwo Agyekum, who got 68.
Kofi Ofosu Boateng retained the Secretary position with 187 votes against Asare Baffour Ebenezer's 93, while Randy Ashraf Issahaku narrowly won Deputy Secretary with 145 votes against Stephen Opuni's 135.
The Women's Organizer race was tight, with Samira Sulley edging out incumbent Doris Asomah, 142 votes to 139. Dauda Ibrahim Bamba won Youth Organiser with 102 votes, ahead of Shadrach Abrefah Mensah on 92, Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey on 58 and Alhaji Baba Suwari on 29.
Faisal Osman Mohammed was elected Nasara Organiser with 177 votes against Wahab Bashiru's 101. Veronica Tuffour narrowly won Treasurer with 131 votes against Henry Osei's 124, with Kassim Siaka taking 25. Abdul Razak Oppong won the Organizer position comfortably with 229 votes against Darlington Bill Boampong's 52, while Fahd Osman won Communications with 170 votes against Abubakari Yakubu's 111.
A total of 281 delegates from 12 constituencies were expected to vote in the regional elections, which were supervised by the Electoral Commission. The exercise was conducted smoothly, with police officers deployed at the venue to maintain law and order, and despite some closely contested races, proceeded without disruption.
