Abena Kyei Boakye, a celebrated Ghanaian TV host, was officially announced as the brand ambassador for Glow Washing Powder during a launch ceremony held Thursday evening at ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra.
Glow Washing Powder, a product of Glow Soaps & Detergents, markets itself as a powerful yet gentle laundry solution that tackles tough stains without the need for prolonged soaking or heavy scrubbing. The detergent is positioned for everyday wear, workwear and school uniforms.
Speaking on behalf of Glow’s CEO Nana Akua Darkowaa, also known as Faustina Darko, Madam Sweetie Acquah highlighted the company’s commitment to affordable, effective cleaning products and its aim to strengthen a distinctly Ghanaian brand identity. She added that Abena’s partnership would help bring the product closer to consumers nationwide.
Presidential Adviser and Director of Diaspora Affairs Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) performed the unveiling. He praised Abena for her relatable media presence and said the partnership celebrates the modern Ghanaian woman as versatile, confident, hardworking and vibrant.
In her acceptance speech, Abena said the collaboration was “more than an endorsement.” She described Glow as a symbol of freshness, confidence and the feeling that comes when clothes are clean, bright and ready for the world. She pledged to bring the Glow experience to households across the country, urging people to wash with Glow and wear their confidence.
The event was emceed by Joy Prime presenter Kpekpo Maxwell Justice (KMJ) and featured a comedy set by Hogan. Guests included gospel musician Nacee, counsellor George Lutterodt and Ghana’s Most Beautiful personality Belinda Fosua Amoah (Fosua).
Glow Soaps & Detergents, a Ghanaian‑owned company, also produces bar soap, liquid soap, bleach, floor cleaner, glass cleaner, sanitiser and disinfectants, and is expanding its distribution through retailers, direct sales and market activations.
Abena’s appointment is expected to boost Glow’s visibility and reinforce its positioning as a household staple, while celebrating the evolving role of women in Ghanaian society.
