In the bustling streets of Ngleshie Amanfro, a Ga South Municipality community, 7‑foot‑tall Ephraim Sincero Ma‑c Saawa has become a local celebrity simply by standing out. The senior high school graduate, who finished Abakrampa SHS in 2025, is now training at the Magic Basketball Academy near Accra Technical University, determined to turn the attention he receives into a career on the court.

Saawa says his ultimate ambition is to wear the red, gold and green of Ghana, step onto an international basketball stage and help secure a trophy for the country. "I want to join Ghana’s national basketball team, compete in international tournaments and help win a trophy for the country," he told reporters, showing both humility and hunger for success.

Although he has no national caps, league titles or endorsement deals yet, his height and natural athleticism have earned him the nickname “the tallest boy in Accra” among locals. He credits his father for pushing him to meet the coach at Magic Basketball Academy, where he is learning the fundamentals of footwork, positioning, shooting and defence, drawing inspiration from French star Victor Wembanyama.

Beyond the court, Saawa works at a printing press in Ngleshie Amanfro to support himself while preparing to study Computer Science at university, aiming to become a software engineer. He also hopes to raise awareness about the challenges tall Ghanaians face, from uncomfortable trotros to limited transport accommodation, urging drivers and passengers to be more considerate.

With structured training now underway and a clear vision for his future, Saawa’s story is a reminder that talent and determination can rise above obstacles. His next steps will involve seeking opportunities with professional teams that can help him refine his game and potentially earn a call‑up to the national squad.
