On Wednesday, 14 October 2026, President John Dramani Mahama addressed the opening session of the World Assemblies of God Congress in Accra, urging society to value the wisdom and work of women leaders. He highlighted the pivotal role that women of faith play in nation‑building and called on the public to acknowledge their leadership and contributions.
“Let us recognise our women of faith. And let the labour that sustains so much of our congregational life, and the wisdom, gift, and leadership of our women, be heard and valued,” Mahama said. “Because a fellowship preparing for the future must make room for all those whom God has equipped to serve,” he added.
The president’s remarks came at the opening of the three‑day congress, which runs until 16 October under the theme “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation.” The programme features plenary sessions, workshops and revival rallies. The 10th Triennial World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress marks the first time the gathering has been hosted in Africa and is expected to draw more than 10,000 participants from about 100 countries, according to General Superintendent Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
Mahama’s call for recognition of women of faith aligns with the congress’s broader focus on the Church’s mission and its role in communities worldwide. The president’s message is a reminder that inclusive leadership is essential for a future that serves all members of society.
