In a ceremony held at the UPSA auditorium, the University of Professional Studies, Accra, marked the graduation of 1,275 students from its School of Graduate Studies and the UPSA Law School. The cohort included 1,086 postgraduate graduates and 189 Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduates.
Postgraduate awards were distributed across a range of disciplines: 554 Master of Business Administration (MBA), 222 Master of Science (MSc), 196 Master of Arts (MA), 73 Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and 41 Master of Laws (LLM) graduates. The programmes spanned business, finance, accounting, management, communication, information systems, leadership, procurement, insurance, marketing and law. Four masters graduates achieved a perfect cumulative grade point average of 4.0, a first in the university’s history. The event also marked the graduation of the inaugural cohorts of five postgraduate programmes: MPhil in Information Systems, MPhil in Management, and LLM programmes in Competition and Consumer Protection Law, International Business and Commercial Law, and Natural Resources and Climate Change Law.
Vice‑Chancellor Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor delivered the graduation report, urging graduates to apply their education to solve problems, strengthen institutions and serve communities. He highlighted the university’s efforts to link research and teaching with industry needs, citing its maiden Innovation Week and the establishment of the J.K. Horgle Transport and Logistics Centre of Excellence. He also praised the discipline of those balancing postgraduate studies with careers and family responsibilities.
Congregation speaker Dr Philip Oti‑Mensah, CEO of Universal Merchant Bank, encouraged graduates to bring value, solve problems and lead responsibly. Valedictory speaker Ms Klenam Aku Tsikata urged graduates to dream beyond circumstances, emphasise faith and recognise the evolving role of women in society. She praised the university’s open lecturer‑student relationship and the support for working students.
As the ceremony concluded, graduates celebrated their achievements and the university’s commitment to nurturing talent that can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing professional landscape.
