In a police operation in Paga, the Kassena‑Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, a 36‑year‑old man named Tumbana Ane was arrested on suspicion of distributing illicit drugs.

During the raid, officers seized 38 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as other prohibited substances including Tramadol.

The Upper East Regional Police Command said the arrest is part of a broader effort to curb the use and distribution of prohibited drugs and other criminal activities in the area.

Police discovered the parcels during a search of Ane’s residence, which also revealed a tunnel that may have been used to hide drugs or as an escape route.

Preliminary investigations link Ane to the operation of brothels at an illegal mining site in Wuru, a suburb of the Kayoro community in the same district.

The police are intensifying investigations into Ane’s activities and any network of individuals involved in the alleged drug trade.
