Telecel Ghana today confirmed its partnership with Black Sherif, the reigning TGMA Artist of the Year, as part of its new Project X initiative. The deal was unveiled at a launch event held at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel, where Telecel CEO Ing Patricia Obo‑Nai highlighted the synergy between the brand’s youthful energy and the artist’s inspirational journey.
Under Project X, Telecel customers who engage with Black Sherif online will receive a unique BlackoCode. These codes unlock exclusive experiences, discounts, free transactions and other prizes when redeemed through the Telecel Play App. The initiative aims to drive digital financial inclusion by encouraging the use of Telecel Cash mobile money wallets and the Play App.
Speaking at the event, Black Sherif expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. “I’m excited to connect energies with Telecel as the face of Project X. This partnership is about creating opportunities and delivering real value to customers, while making everyday transactions safer, easier and more rewarding,” he said.
Telecel’s Director of Consumer Business, Aneth Muga, added that the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to creating meaningful customer experiences. “Today marks the culmination of careful listening and bold thinking. At Telecel, we recognise that our customers expect more than products; they expect experiences that are simple, secure and exciting. Project X has been developed with that expectation at its core,” she said.
The launch drew a mix of government officials, industry leaders and music enthusiasts, underscoring the high profile of the partnership. Telecel plans to feature Black Sherif prominently across its campaign communications and customer engagements to raise awareness of the Play App and its digital financial solutions.
Customers interested in participating should activate their Telecel Cash wallets, download the Telecel Play App, and keep an eye out for BlackoCodes released during Black Sherif’s online engagements.
