Tamale: Three Children Found Dead in Vehicle Boot

The Northern Regional Police Command has opened a homicide investigation after the bodies of three children were found in the boot of a black Hyundai Tucson at Koblimahagu Zoo in Tamale. The deceased were identified as Dauda Abdul Aziz, 3; Saani Alsharaf, 5; and Dauda Fadilan, 7.

Police say the children left their homes around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to attend Islamic classes and did not return. Community searches failed until about 5:00 a.m. on Monday, when the vehicle was found stuck in mud on a road leading to the zoo.

Inspection revealed the driver’s door and the rear passenger door behind the driver’s seat were open, while all other doors, including the boot, were locked. The vehicle, registered AS 1770-14, belongs to a member of the Ghana Immigration Service, who told investigators it had been stuck for roughly five days.

The Inspector‑General of Police has dispatched a special team of homicide investigators, crime scene experts and intelligence officers to Tamale to aid the regional command. The vehicle has been secured for forensic examination and an autopsy is expected to shed light on the children’s deaths.

Police have urged the public to remain calm and assured that all necessary investigative steps are underway. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
