Monica Mawuse Bosso, 28, was discovered Sunday morning on her family’s compound in Peace Town, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality. The body lay beneath a mango tree, a headgear tied to a lower branch around her neck.
Family members, including cousin Esther Nyavor, expressed shock and urged the Central East Regional Police Command to conduct a thorough inquiry, citing signs that the death may involve gang rape followed by murder.
Preliminary police work points to sexual assault and homicide. Crime scene experts noted the victim’s skirt and underwear were forcefully ripped, and her mobile phone was found at the scene. Investigators collected suspected semen samples and are analyzing them to establish the circumstances of the death.
Authorities are also probing a reported fraudulent withdrawal of GH¢2,000 from Bosso’s Mobile Money account around the time of the incident.
Community leaders have called for heightened security and a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.
