Kofi Sarpong, a 16‑year‑old from Atimatim Maase, has confirmed that he passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination with a Grade 18, qualifying him for admission to Adanwomase Senior High School in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region. The boy, who has been featured in a viral video, clarified his age and expressed his goal of becoming a lawyer.

During an exclusive interview with Adom News reporter Kwadwo Obeng Mireku, Kofi said that he is currently studying General Arts at the school. He added that his classmates often joke about his small stature, but that the teasing makes him happy to be in school.

"My name is Kofi Sarpong from Atimatim Maase. I am 16 years old, and I passed my BECE with Grade 18. People see me as underage because of my stature, but I am sixteen," he said.

The housemaster of Adanwomase SHS, Michael Ofori, welcomed the student, noting that the school has a history of admitting small‑statured students who excel academically. “We have several students here who are small in stature, but they are smart and brilliant. So, with this one, I am not surprised. He likes learning, and we will also help him to achieve his future aspirations,” Ofori told Adom News.

Ofori further emphasized that education is for everyone, stating that the school will do everything possible to support Kofi’s success. The boy’s ambition to study law aligns with his strong academic record and his confidence that he can overcome any obstacles posed by his appearance.

As Kofi prepares to transition to secondary education, his story has sparked conversation across the Ashanti Region about the importance of encouraging all students, regardless of size, to pursue their dreams. The viral video and subsequent interview have already inspired many parents and teachers to support ambitious young learners.

Looking ahead, Kofi plans to continue his studies in the General Arts stream and intends to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with the aim of gaining admission to a Ghanaian university’s law program. The school’s administration and community members are optimistic that he will achieve his goal and become a role model for other students.
