Parliament confirmed on Monday, October 5 that a notice displayed on its board stating “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027” was an administrative communication, not a policy change to stop national service placements.
The clarification came after social media users questioned the meaning of the notice, which read “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.” Parliament said the message was not a policy statement nor an indication of a freeze on national service assignments.
According to a press release, the notice was a routine administrative note aimed at prospective national service personnel who had reported to Parliament. It informed them that the institution had received more applicants than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year and advised them to seek reposting at other institutions.

Parliament stressed that the notice did not signify any change in its support for the National Service Scheme and reaffirmed its commitment to the programme, noting the value of national service personnel to its operations.
The institution expressed regret over any confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the notice and clarified that it remains fully supportive of the National Service Scheme.
