Cole Palmer has signed a new Chelsea contract on improved terms until 2034, extending his stay with the club beyond the previous 2023‑2023 agreement.
The 24‑year‑old, who joined the Premier League side from Manchester City in 2023 for £42.5 million, will now be one of only a handful of players in the league with a contract that stretches to 2034, alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea teammates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda.
Palmer’s renewal follows a season in which he has been a key attacking option for the club, scoring four goals and providing two assists in seven appearances. He has also emerged as a dressing‑room leader, earning the respect of teammates and the coaching staff.
The deal is part of a broader strategy by Chelsea to reward both established and emerging talent while maintaining a balanced wage structure. Joao Pedro signed a new contract in August, and Pedro Neto secured a six‑year extension last month.
Palmer has developed a strong understanding with Brazil forward Joao Pedro and has rekindled his on‑pitch partnership with Morgan Rogers, whom he helped sign from Aston Villa for a club‑record £117 million this summer. He admitted to playing through a groin problem last season, which led to his omission from England’s World Cup squad.
Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed that Palmer is expected to be available for Saturday’s match against Bournemouth, stating, “Absolutely. He’s committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play. When he’s fully fit, he will enjoy his minutes. We need him in that moment. The club and the national team.”
With Chelsea currently sitting 10th in the Premier League after five matches, the club will look to Palmer’s experience and leadership to help push the team higher up the table.
