New Patriotic Party: Boadu, Kodua Elected National Chairman, General Secretary

Former Ghanaian Ambassador to China, Edward Boateng, extended congratulations to John Boadu and Justin Frimpong Kodua on their election and re‑election as National Chairman and General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) respectively. The National Delegates Conference, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, saw Boadu win the chairmanship with 2,888 votes against Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko’s 2,408, while Kodua retained his post with 4,486 votes.

Boateng said the new leadership carries a heavy responsibility to rebuild the party’s structures and unite members in preparation for the 2028 general elections. He praised Boadu’s journey from grassroots roles to National Chairman and highlighted his experience as National Organiser and Acting General Secretary between 2014 and 2016, which helped secure the party’s 2016 electoral victory.

“Every tradition and tendency within the NPP must find a place in the rebuilding effort,” Boateng urged. He also noted Kodua’s historic second consecutive term as General Secretary, the first since Dan Botwe, and called on him to work closely with Boadu to strengthen discipline, accountability and grassroots engagement.

Both leaders were encouraged to reach out to members who backed other candidates during the internal elections, fostering reconciliation and a united front to support Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028.
