The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has named technology entrepreneur Anthony Owusu‑Ansah as Acting Deputy Director‑General, a move aimed at strengthening the agency’s leadership as Ghana accelerates its digital transformation agenda.
Owusu‑Ansah, best known for founding the logistics firm ShaQ Express and the tech company ShaQApp, brings a blend of entrepreneurial and corporate experience that NITA believes will support its mandate of promoting digital inclusion and modernising public service delivery.
His background includes senior roles at Vodafone Ghana, Millicom Ghana (now AirtelTigo), Nestle Ghana and Enterprise Group, and he has served on the Governing Council of Cape Coast Technical University while mentoring entrepreneurs through the UNICEF StartUp Lab.
Owusu‑Ansah holds an MBA from KNUST, a physics degree from the same university, a Harvard Business School Online certificate and is a Commonwealth Startup Fellowship recipient.
As Acting Deputy Director‑General, he will help NITA regulate IT activities, set standards and foster Ghana’s position as a technology hub in West Africa.
Observers note that his appointment comes amid a surge in government digital initiatives, including expanded digital infrastructure and public digital services.
