At the closing ceremony of the European Film Festival Ghana 2026, National Film Authority Executive Secretary Kafui Danku‑Pitcher revealed a new initiative to provide additional support to two writers who took part in the Ghana‑EU Pitch Café, beyond the competition’s overall winner.
She said the decision reflects the authority’s recognition of promising writers whose work may not win the competition but still deserves opportunities for growth. “While the competition awards one main winner, we recognise the potential of other promising voices as well. I am therefore pleased to announce that the National Film Authority will provide additional support to two of the other writers from tonight’s pitching competition,” she said.
Ms Danku‑Pitcher congratulated all participants and urged them to keep developing their ideas regardless of the competition’s outcome. “To every writer here tonight, whether or not your name is called, keep writing. Our competition does not define the value of your choice,” she added.
She also acknowledged President John Dramani Mahama’s support for Ghana’s film industry, noting it strengthens efforts to create opportunities for local filmmakers and creatives.
In addition, Ms Danku‑Pitcher encouraged filmmakers to explore the Cinema Train platform, inviting them to share ideas and provide feedback ahead of its launch.
The NFA’s move signals a broader investment in emerging talent and the future of Ghanaian storytelling, offering a platform for voices that might otherwise remain unheard.
