Nana Akomea, the New Patriotic Party’s Third Vice Chairman, has publicly refuted claims that he negotiated with First Vice Chairman Kojo Fosu Boadu, known as Kojo Bamba, regarding the party’s national executive elections.
In a Facebook post dated Monday, October 5, 2026, Akomea explained that he was caught in traffic while returning to the conference venue in Kumasi and arrived only after the introductions of the newly elected executives had concluded.
He added, “I was not present for the introductions. I had left the conference grounds around 11.30 pm. So I was not present during the vote counting and tabulation, and so could not have engaged myself in any ‘negotiation’ with Kojo Bamba or anybody else.”
The clarification comes after reports that Akomea’s absence from the introductions had been linked to an alleged agreement with Bamba to make him the First Vice Chairman. Akomea, who was elected Third Vice Chairman for the next four years, thanked more than 6,000 NPP delegates for their participation in the conference and congratulated all candidates, winners and non‑winners alike.
Akomea’s statement underscores the party’s insistence that the election process was conducted without any clandestine deals.
