MTN Ghana announced that it will soon launch 5G services following the award of spectrum licences in the 700 MHz and 3 GHz bands by the National Communications Authority (NCA). The licences were granted after the company applied for mid‑band frequencies in 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz to support 5G and mobile broadband services.

The acquisition of the 700 MHz and 3 GHz spectrum could cost MTN around US$202 million. In a notice to investors, the company said it is finalising the formalities and payment obligations linked to the licence purchase, noting that the payments have been incorporated into its equity‑free cash flow outlook.

MTN will deploy the newly acquired 5G spectrum alongside its existing spectrum holdings to strengthen network capacity, enhance service quality and improve customer experience nationwide. The firm said the rollout will be critical for driving growth in 5G mobility and achieving its home‑connectivity aspirations in Ghana.

MTN Ghana will keep the market informed of material developments as it advances the rollout of the awarded spectrum and high‑speed 5G services aimed at enhancing customer experience across the country. The company thanked shareholders and stakeholders for their continued support as it undertakes this strategic investment.
