President John Dramani Mahama has landed in Alamein, Egypt, to attend the 8th African Union Mid‑Year Coordination Summit and the maiden Alamein Africa Forum, which runs parallel to the heads of state gathering.
The forum opens Saturday with an address by the Egyptian President and a keynote by Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote. Mr Mahama will later deliver the keynote at a plenary session titled “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains”, where he will argue that health is a strategic economic sector and an investable market, not merely a social expenditure.
Sunday will host the heads of state summit, during which President Mahama is expected to hold key bilateral meetings on the sidelines, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi.
The gatherings aim to push African economic integration and sustainable development forward, providing a platform for governments, businesses and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
