At the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) delivered a call for unity, urging NPP members to focus on the party’s political objectives and avoid internal distractions.
The LPG’s message, presented during the conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, highlighted the opportunity for the NPP to strengthen democratic processes and consolidate its membership as more than 7,000 delegates gathered to elect national officers and consider constitutional amendments.
“Ghanaians are telling NPP that this is not the time to be listening to some baleful people that was within your political party that enjoyed positions,” the LPG warned, cautioning members against individuals who could undermine the party’s cohesion.
“Don’t pay attention to those who are going to distract you because Ghanaians are already disappointed,” the party added, noting that many citizens are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and express a desire for the return of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer.
“I’m not here just to sing praises, but I’m just trying to be factual,” the LPG said, framing its remarks as an observation of the political mood rather than mere endorsement of a candidate.
The party also stressed the importance of democratic processes and political tolerance, calling on NPP members to maintain unity as the party elects its national officers.
As the NPP navigates internal reorganisation, the LPG’s solidarity message serves as a reminder that unity and democratic integrity are essential for the party’s future success.
Observers will watch how the NPP responds to the LPG’s call and whether it can keep its delegates focused on the conference’s objectives amid the broader political climate in Ghana.
