In a recent internal election, Mavis Hawa Koomson was chosen as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Women’s Organiser, securing 783 votes against 429 for her rival, Hajia Safia Mohammed. Koomson, who has served the party in various capacities, declared her intention to lead the women’s wing with experience and maturity.
After the results were announced, Koomson thanked supporters and the party’s election committee for their roles in the process. “I want to thank every person who supported me till today. Their efforts have resulted in this victory,” she said. She also praised key party members for their contributions to the successful conduct of the elections.

When asked about the style of leadership she would bring, Koomson stated, “A woman with experience and maturity.” The NPP’s women’s wing now looks to her for guidance as it seeks to expand its influence across the party’s national agenda.
