The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) marked its first anniversary by shipping critical medical equipment to nine hospitals nationwide as part of its “Day of Giving” initiative. The delivery included ultrasound machines, X‑ray units, printers, oxygen concentrators and an oxygen plant, all aimed at strengthening diagnostic and emergency response capabilities.

Beneficiaries include Volta Regional Hospital, Sefwi‑Wiawso Government Hospital, Bole Municipal Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Worawora Government Hospital, Wa Municipal Hospital, Kumasi South Hospital, Eastern Regional Hospital and Northern Regional Hospital. The equipment is expected to bring imaging closer to the point of care, reduce delays in diagnosis, and improve patient outcomes.

Dr Leslie Issah Adam Zakariah, Medical Director of Greater Accra Regional Hospital, praised GMTF’s support and pledged the hospital’s continued collaboration. Bole Municipal Hospital management also expressed gratitude, noting the aid would ease pressure on staff and enhance service delivery.

GMTF Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko‑Opoku said the Fund will keep working with health facilities to identify pressing needs and deliver interventions that make a measurable difference. The distribution underscores GMTF’s commitment to translating its mission into tangible improvements for health professionals and patients across Ghana.

As GMTF continues its work, the impact of this latest intervention will be measured by how the new equipment improves diagnosis, emergency response and overall care quality in the nine hospitals.
