On Monday, October 5, the Ministry of Education released a statement acknowledging teachers across Ghana for their commitment, professionalism and sacrifices as the country joined the international community to celebrate World Teachers’ Day 2026.

The ministry underscored that teachers sit at the heart of Ghana’s education system, shaping the minds, character and futures of children. It specifically recognised those working in deprived and hard‑to‑reach communities who continue to provide education despite challenging conditions.

It added that the Government’s education transformation agenda focuses not only on expanding access but also on improving quality, learning outcomes, relevant skills and human capital development. The ministry stressed that no meaningful reform can succeed without a strong and supported teaching workforce.

In its press release, the ministry pledged to continue working with teachers, their unions and other stakeholders to strengthen the profession, support professional development and address concerns affecting teachers’ welfare and working conditions.

It called on parents, communities and Ghanaians generally to appreciate and support teachers, describing their work as fundamental to the country’s social and economic development. The ministry expressed gratitude to teachers nationwide for their continued service and the role they play in preparing future generations.

"Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for shaping Ghana’s future," the ministry said.
