Ga Mantse Urges Land Secretariats Across Ga State

At the opening of the Sempe Stool Customary Land Secretariat, Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Tsuru II urged every paramouncy in the Ga State to create similar secretariats to better manage customary lands and reduce conflicts.

He singled out the Asene, Abola, Gbese and Otublohum paramouncies, saying they should establish secretariats to curb the “disturbing issues relating to land.”

Ms Tsuru II explained that the new bodies would support the implementation of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), which provides a legal framework for customary land administration.

He praised the Lands Commission and the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands for backing the Sempe Stool initiative and urged the institutions to keep working together.

He also encouraged traditional leaders and the public to study the Land Act’s provisions so they could better understand customary land administration and tackle land‑related challenges.

Observers note that the call comes amid ongoing concerns over financial mismanagement and dissipation of public funds in some stool lands.
