Executive Women Network Celebrates 10 Years, Launches Four New Initiatives

The Executive Women Network (EWN) marked its tenth anniversary on Tuesday, unveiling four flagship projects designed to deepen leadership development, entrepreneurship, mentorship and collaboration across Ghana’s business landscape.

The EWN@10 Conference & Expo, held in Accra under the theme “A Decade of Leadership, A Future Toward Holistic Impact: Self & Family, Career, Legacy,” drew more than 200 women CEOs, managing directors, board chairs and entrepreneurs from 28 industry sectors.

MTN Ghana partnered with the event, which was chaired by the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Asante‑Asiedu. In her address she stressed that “progress cannot rest on women alone. Institutions must create opportunities, visibility and access that allow talent to thrive.”

During the two‑day gathering, EWN Executive Committee Chairperson Mrs. Janet Sunkwa‑Mills announced the four new initiatives that will carry the Network into its next decade. The programmes aim to move beyond discussion and provide concrete pathways for women to advance in leadership, entrepreneurship, mentorship, skills development and opportunity.

“Between 2016 and September 2026, EWN has directly impacted more than 10,000 lives,” Ms. Sunkwa‑Mills noted. She urged participants to “mentor a young woman before the year ends, sponsor a girl’s education, open a door for another sister, champion the affirmative action act inside your own organisation, lift as you rise.”

Keynote speaker Ehunabobrim Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, called for leaders to move beyond mentorship and embrace sponsorship as a deliberate way to create opportunities for women. He described support for women in leadership as a “leadership, development and economic issue,” urging that “a country cannot fully realise its potential while a significant portion of its talent remains underrepresented in positions of influence.”

The conference also introduced EWN 2.0, signalling the Network’s ambition to expand its impact through targeted programmes and partnerships. The event was supported by Telecel, Absa Bank, ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Ecobank and Stanbic, with media partners amplifying the celebration’s reach.

As EWN looks ahead, the organization positions itself not only as a community for executive women but as a platform for leadership development, collaboration, mentorship, entrepreneurship and broader institutional impact across Africa.
