Demolition Near Shaky’s Guest House: Police on Scene as Property Owners Question Authority

A demolition exercise was carried out near Shaky’s Guest House in Achimota, Accra, affecting some structures at the site. The operation was conducted by unidentified persons, and several affected residents are seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding the demolition.

Some property owners who declined to speak on camera alleged that the demolition was being carried out by an individual claiming ownership of the land. The allegations have not yet been independently verified, and it is unclear whether the person claiming ownership had obtained the necessary legal or administrative authorisation to undertake the demolition.

When the site was visited, a number of police officers were present, and a heavy‑duty machine was seen operating at the location. The police presence suggested that security personnel were deployed either during the exercise or in its aftermath, but it is not yet known whether they were there to supervise the demolition, maintain order, prevent confrontation, or respond to concerns raised by those affected.

The situation remains fluid, and residents and authorities are awaiting further clarification on the legal status of the demolition and the identity of the person responsible.
