Former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) (Rtd) Kwaku Ayesu Opare‑Addo will lie in state at the Ghana Police Training School ground in Patasi, Kumasi, on Friday, 2 October 2026. The ceremony will be followed by burial and funeral rites at the same venue on the same day.
A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Saturday, 3 October at Amakom Adventist Church (SDA) in Kumasi, with a family gathering at the Police Training School that afternoon.
The event will be attended by a distinguished assembly of police officials, former and current leaders, and family members, including Inspector‑General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, former IGP James Oppong Boanuh, and former NARPO President Boakye‑Appiah. Other dignitaries include ACP Florence Arthur, current NARPO President, and COP Arthur Osei Akoto, Ashanti Regional Police Commander.
Family members who will be present include Kwadwo, Tutu, Ayesu, Fordjour, Bryan, and Emmanuella Opare‑Addo, as well as relatives from Accra, Australia, and other parts of Ghana such as Takoradi, Sunyani, and Elmina.
Police and community leaders have expressed deep respect for DCOP Opare‑Addo’s service. The funeral will be a solemn occasion to honour his contributions to law enforcement in Ghana.
