Contractors have moved onto the 16,000‑square‑metre site in Bole, Savannah Region, to begin construction of a 120‑bed Specialised Trauma and Emergency Hospital. The move was announced by Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who posted the news on Facebook on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The new facility will feature a 24‑hour Accident and Emergency Unit, trauma resuscitation bays, emergency operating theatres, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a High Dependency Unit (HDU), specialised trauma wards and a burns treatment unit. Orthopaedic and surgical units, along with imaging and diagnostic services, are also planned.

Officials say the hospital will expand access to specialised trauma and emergency care for residents of Bole and surrounding communities, addressing the urgent need for advanced medical services in the Savannah Region.
