At the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, where the New Patriotic Party is holding its National Delegates Congress and officers’ elections, Eugene Boakye Antwi declared he is poised to win the party’s General Secretary position. Speaking to Channel One TV’s Hanson Agyemang, the former Subin MP said the response from delegates across Ghana has convinced him that his campaign message has gained significant support.

Boakye Antwi said the delegates have expressed a strong demand for change in how the party is organised and managed, and that his platform of strengthening internal structures and reconnecting with grassroots supporters has struck a chord. He described himself as a “game changer” for the NPP as it looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.

“The message is loud and clear. I am hosting the delegates’ congress and I am winning it. My message has resonated very well with the delegates and there is a clarion call for a change in the affairs of the party. They see me as a game changer for 2028,” Boakye Antwi told the interview.

The National Delegates Congress will see 7,163 delegates from across Ghana voting to elect a new set of national officers who will oversee the party’s organisational and administrative affairs and coordinate activities at the grassroots level. Boakye Antwi’s bid for the General Secretary role will be decided at the conclusion of the congress.

Observers will watch the vote closely, as the outcome could shape the NPP’s strategy and leadership dynamics heading into the next presidential election.
