Ghana’s fashion calendar expands with the inaugural Black Star Fashion Week (BSFW), a two‑day showcase set for November 4 and 7. The first day in Accra will host the Black Star Fashion Summit, bringing designers, entrepreneurs, creatives, industry executives, investors, buyers, manufacturers, policymakers and media together for keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chats, masterclasses and workshops on entrepreneurship, branding, digital marketing, textile innovation, manufacturing, fashion financing, export readiness, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, sustainability and intellectual property.

A highlight of the Accra programme is the 16‑Region Designer Programme, offering emerging designers nationwide a platform to present works inspired by their regional identities, cultures and crafts. Five designers will be chosen at the end of the day, one of whom will advance to the main fashion show at Royal Senchi.

On November 7, the event will move to Royal Senchi for the Black Star Fashion Show, complemented by a Fashion Village featuring designer showcases, retail, textiles, artisan displays, brand activations, beauty, technology, food and beverage, tourism and lifestyle experiences. The organisers also plan to celebrate Ghana’s cultural diversity through music, dance, textiles, craft, food, storytelling, heritage and visual arts.

BSFW is part of the Black Star Experience, a government initiative aimed at promoting Ghana’s culture, arts, tourism and creative industries year‑round. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Creative Arts Agency support the event, which aims to create opportunities for industry players and elevate Ghana’s fashion profile globally.
