Bawumia Urges NPP Aspirants to Accept Results, Unite in Kumasi

During the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference and Officers’ elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia urged all aspirants to accept the outcomes and unite behind the newly elected national executives.

Bawumia called on those who emerged successful to reach out to their opponents and on those who lost to support the new leadership, stressing that the contests were an internal exercise to select a group of leaders for the party’s broader interests, not a permanent division.

He added that once voting ends, the campaign must also end, and all aspirants should turn their attention to the collective objectives of the NPP. “This is just an internal contest to select a few from well‑qualified aspirants to serve our party’s collective and ultimate objective of winning back the trust of the people to serve our motherland better,” Bawumia said. “Therefore, when the voting is done today, the contest must also end.”

He encouraged winners to greet fellow aspirants with a hug and called on those who did not win to remember that the party still needs them. “There is work for all of us to do. Let us vote in peace, accept the results in good faith, and leave Kumasi as one family,” he added.

The message was aimed at fostering unity within the NPP ahead of the upcoming general elections, as the party seeks to consolidate support and present a united front to the electorate.
